Mervin Booth Hogan (1906-1998) was born to Charles Ira and Sarah Ann Booth Hogan in Bountiful, Utah. He was educated in Utah schools, completing his bachelor's degree in engineering at the University of Utah in 1927. Between 1927 and 1931, Hogan worked in Pittsburgh as a design engineer for the Westinghouse Electronic Corporation.
